Making the Simple Sacred

🌾 Making the Simple Sacred

How a humble granola became a postpartum altar—and why your body craves it.

In the heart of motherhood, there are days where time stretches long and others where it slips through your fingers like warm ghee. But whether you’re in the slow hours or the sprinting ones, your body is always whispering: “Nourish me.”

And it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is stir a pot with love. Infuse oats with spice. Let the aroma of cardamom and maple bring you back into your body.

This granola is one of those recipes.

I make it for postpartum mothers. I make it for myself. I make it for the seasons. It’s simple, yes—but when you layer in intention, spices, and ancestral knowing, it becomes medicine.

✨ Why This Granola Matters

Because it’s not just food.

It’s a tether back to yourself.
A snack that actually stabilizes your blood sugar.
A moment of sensory care in the chaos of diapers and dishes.
A reminder that you deserve food made with joy—even on the days when cereal feels easier.

This granola nourishes your tissues, your hormones, your nervous system, and your soul.

🍶 The Recipe: Cacao Rose Fennel Granola

Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

1/3 cup pecans

2/3 cup pistachios or pumpkin seeds

1/3 cup coconut shreds

1/4 cup ghee

1/4 cup maple syrup

Spices of choice – try:

Fennel + cardamom + rose petals for a light postpartum blend

Or cacao + cinnamon + ginger for grounding and warmth

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix your dry ingredients.

In a small saucepan (or measuring cup), gently warm the ghee and maple syrup with your chosen spices.

Pour this golden elixir over your dry mix and stir to coat evenly.

Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant.

Let cool completely before storing in an airtight jar.

Eat it with raw milk. On top of stewed apples. As a trail snack with cacao nibs. Or by the handful between nursing sessions.

🌹 Sacred Practice: Infuse It With Intention

Before you stir, pause.

Stand at your counter with both feet rooted.
Place one hand on your heart, the other on your belly.
Close your eyes.

Breathe in deeply through your nose.
Exhale out the mouth with sound—aaahh.
Do this three times.

Now whisper an intention into the bowl.
Something simple, like:

“May this food remind me of who I am.”

“May every bite return me to my body.”

“Let this nourish my child, and the child inside me.”

Then stir slowly, clockwise, three times.

That’s it. The food is now a spell.
